Case Studies
Martha is a three year old rescue springer who is big, strong and just a bit wild! But also very loving... This makes walking difficult and recall uncertain.
It's going to take time to resolve but after a few weeks following our advice, Daisy her owner wrote to say:

“I just thought I’d write to let you know that your advice about boring walks was great. I have been taking Martha out at least once a day on a boring walk round the little housing estate at the back of the village. There are some distractions (other dogs, cats, bin day) ... I am really proud of Martha. We seem to have turned a corner and she will now walk on a loose lead at my side. I can’t release my attention from Martha yet as its not inbuilt and she still needs reminding of where she should be but oh! What a difference.
The knowledge that you are there to offer advice has been invaluable – it has girded me up to carry on when I have started to despair.
We still have work to do – particularly when she gets excited (instant reversion to old habits) though this is gradually getting better. . She is getting better with but it's taking time. Thanks for all your help ... In these very strange times. You have adapted brilliantly – training a rescue dog is challenging at the best of times but we all need a helping hand, and the benefit of someone else’s creative thinking and experience when we get stuck. Thank you so much."
Buddy the Caverpoo was 8 weeks old when Sue got in touch and decided to try our online course, Puppy Home School
After a few weeks' Sue emailed to say:
"As a new dog owner, I was extremely nervous and and anxious about getting things ‘right’ and felt in need of expert advice, and not that given on social media sites.
I found your approach, tone and humour helped me to engage with each aspect of puppy training as you made it informative and fun. Not a case of do and don’t, more the case of why and what.

The importance of approaching things with the view to creating a happy, well balanced and well behaved adult dog, whilst learning about puppy behaviour.
This course really reduced my anxiety and I’ve tried to follow things through and adapt them my setting and my needs. Definitely the wisest thing I’ve done in preparing for my puppy’s arrival. He is on the whole a well behaved, happy, loveable puppy doing all the things that puppies do but with the guidance of the advice you gave me, I see that as the norm and not an issue.
Patience, encouragement, treats and lots of praise have produced a puppy who wants to learn. I hope there are future programmes I can follow that will help both Buddy and I to work together as a team so we both enjoy our lives together."
